I sat at my desk a few moments contemplating the reasons why the delivery was routed to the house, rather than the office. Surely he knows I would keep the Baron informed, but the issue of why they left so suddenly... and I realized I had not seen Colonel O'Toole for some time.
There are some things a member of a diplomatic mission Must Not Notice, but should be aware of to keep from stepping in the wrong direction. After all, there might come a time when plausible deniability of a friend’s actions might be needed, even as you help cover their tracks.
This was a matter of Brothers-At-Arms, which meant I could classify it as a family issue. A small mention in the footnotes of the daily brief would cover the need to advise Herr Baron, but the next step would involve pulling my daughter from her convalescence.
I might also need to pay a call on one who fills a role that does not exist.
